Burglar targets empty home

Kelvin Milton of Yamaha Street was shot dead on Thursday, April 2 in a gangster-related shooting, and while police attended this crime scene, an opportunistic burglar made use of the situation.

While the police and a big crowd gathered on the scene of the shooting, a burglary took place two houses from the scene. The thief realised that everybody’s attention was on the shooting that had just happened.

Vincent Nathan said that nobody was at home and not even the neighbours saw or heard anything.

“The thief entered through a back window. He must have forced the kitchen door key, because we found it broken in the lock. With only the window pane for an exit, he could not take bigger items like the television and microwave, so he stole my expensive clothing and tekkies. He also took all my CDs and DVDs and some of my mother’s jewellery, cellphone, memory sticks and a bag in which he carried all the stolen goods,” said the frustrated Vincent.
