One dead in Alberton hijacking drama

One suspect has been declared dead at the scene of a hijacking on the corner of Phantom and Joyce streets in Raceview, Alberton. The hijacking occurred at about 10:15 on Thursday April 9.

ALBERTON – The RECORD spoke to the owner of Ting-A-Ling nursery school, Tokkie Koekemoer, who said her daughter-in-law, Michelle, had gone outside to bring in a child who was being dropped off, when she heard two gunshots and then two more.
It’s alleged a company vehicle from Dawn Wing Global Express was hijacked and then crashed onto a pavement in from of Alberview Primary School.
The four suspects ran into a garden and entered the house, where it’s alleged one suspect was shot dead.
Three suspects ran off, jumping over garden walls and were chased to Corlett Avenue, Raceview.
EMPD, Alberton SAPS, CPS Security and Fox Security were on the scene, as well as Alberton Victim Support members. Forensics were also called to the scene.
