Another speedster stopped in his tracks

Some drivers seem to misunderstand the Sunday morning drive, after EMPD arrested another speedster on the N12.

ALBERTON – This time around a 27-year-old man was caught driving 204km/h at 6.30 on Sunday March 29.

He was driving a BMW sedan and was caught on the N12 westbound, between the R59 and the Comaro turnoff.

The man was charged with reckless and negligent driving at the Alberton Police Station.

When asked why he was exceeding the speed limit, he explained that he was dashing home to pick up his family members who were late catching a plane at OR Tambo International Airport.

“The speedster’s pleas to be pardoned fell on deaf ears as he was only released hours after his arrest, when he managed to raise bail of R1 500. He is expected to appear in the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court soon to face charges of reckless and negligent driving,” Chief Superintendent Wilfred Kgasago added in his press release.
