Gunning for Youth Olympics

Young Marais Viljoen athlete from Kibler Park, Amoure le Roux, has her eye on the Youth Olympic Championship to be hosted this year on July 15 in Columbia.

ALBERTON – She must first compete locally in the Gauteng and National Championships, and with her present form she already qualified for the A Standard of ASA Athletics. Amoure has broken various records and she is still continuing to break even more.

Her coach, Maria Diamond from Diamond Athletic Academy in Germiston, is pleased with her present form and confident that she’ll pass with flying colours as she really worked hard during the December holidays, even on vacation in Durban. She would also like to thank the parents for their support.

Although she qualifies for the Youth Olympics, the 17-year-old athlete must first compete at the Schools National Championships at Rustenburg this week from March 26 to 28 and then the Clubs National Champs in Bloemfontein from April 9 to 11.
