Acts of random kindness

Christo Kruger, security guard at Springbok Pharmacy, has touched many a person with his kindness .

ALBERTON- For Christo Kruger everyday is an opportunity to help other people in whichever way he can.

He has been a security guard at Springbok pharmacy for three years now, where his helpful kindness has preceded him. He is posted at the top of the escalator and loves to help the elderly, infirm, young or overloaded customer safely down the escalator.

Every pensioner is offered a hand of safety, and you often sees him coming down with a walker in one hand and a lady in the other. He also helps mom’s with prams and injured clients, even taking them back to their cars in wheelchairs.

A most remarkable trait of Christo is how he knows exactly which client needs help and who doesn’t want help. He knows the people who frequent the shop very well. On seeing a lady with a crutch I asked why he didn’t step forward to help her, and he explained that she is scared that she will fall if anyone touches her and he respects her request.

This humble man doesn’t know what all the fuss is about saying he is only doing his job, a job he loves.

Chantelle Booysen-Fourie posted a letter on the Alberton RECORD Facebook:

ā€œThere is a security guard at Springbok Pharmacy by the name of Christo. I was struggling to find the courage to go down the escalators today , #brokenanklerecorvery, it was my first time out to the shops in two months. He was so kind. He came and told hubby he will help me get down, he apparently does this all the time. He took my arm and encouraged me to put one foot forward. Then directed us and helped us choose a brace for my ankle and fetched me a basket. I asked the lady at the till and she also said he is an incredible person, always helping old people down he escalators, anyone really. Day in and day out. Kudos to you Christo. #selfless #greatservice #kindness
