Filling potholes in Florentia had some interesting consequences when the truck hooked a telephone line and pulled the pole over.

ALBERTON- Fixing potholes in Breedt Street, Florentia, led to some unexpected surprises.

On Friday 6 March, the Department of Roadworks were fixing the potholes on Breedt Street when the crane on top of the truck became hooked to the telephone lines.

In the process the pole capsized, hitting one of the workers on the truck and he fell off the truck.

Subsequently it landed on and cracked the front windscreen of a passing taxi. The taxi driver was shaken but unharmed.

The fire department re-erected the telephone pole.

The gentleman from Roadworks is recovering in hospital. Policeman Godfrey Nel and the team restored order to the area.
