Uncle Ahrie hangs up his handcuffs

It is really true when it is said that "Time flies".

It was what seems like just yesterday when Michale Ahrends started his duties as a police officer in Lancia Street in a mobile caravan. He was a young man and never thought he would be serving the community for 36 years.

On Friday, February 6 a farewell function was hosted for Captain Michael Ahrends at Isolomozi in Palmridge. The 56-year-old captain, who is originally from the Western Cape, has retired after serving for 36 years as a dedicated officer.

“I thank my wife Christa for standing by me throughout all the difficult years, my colleagues for their support and trust, and the Eden Park Community for believing in me all these years. I retire with a clear conscience and thank the Lord for His protection over me and my family,” said an emotional Ahrends.
