New electrical company buzzing

WIKA Services (Pty) Ltd was established in January 2013 as the B-BBEE Enterprise Development initiative of WIKA Instruments (Pty) Ltd. The small company has since gone from strength to strength. It is now itself a B-BBEE Level 3 contributor.

Managing Director Elise Thomas says: “Today the company employs three teams of electricians doing all kinds of electrical work in commercial, industrial and domestic applications. Of course we also issue the necessary Electrical Compliance Certificates.”

The company is able to offer expert advice in terms of energy saving devices to reduce consumption. It can also assist with borehole wiring and the external power supply to water reservoirs. WIKA Services also does repairs, rewiring and new installations.

The recent thunderstorms have also wreaked havoc on appliances and electrical devices. So electrician and team leader Petros Mahlangu has also been busy installing lightning protectors and surge arrestors.

“By installing lightning/surge protectors, you are protecting your gadgets and even yourself,” he says.

His number one tip for lightning protection is the installation of telephone lines and satellite dishes: It is imperative to ensure that these devices are properly earthed.

Lately with increasing episodes of load shedding, WIKA Services has found itself consulting on the sizing of generators and their installation into domestic and commercial/industrial premises.
