Daylight robbery in Albany street

CPF, New Redruth radio forum and CPS work together to capture thugs.

ALBERTON- Three men broke the gate of Leonieze Court in Albany street, New Redruth, at approximately 15:00 this afternoon.

A member of the Community Police Forum spotted the vehicle on a routine patrol and saw that the gate to the complex was open. He radioed for back-up from the New Redruth Radio Network and CPS was dispatched.

Upon arrival the vehicle was already parked inside the complex and CPS parked in front of the gate, blocking the entrance. The three suspects then jumped out of the red Golf GTI and tried to escape. They were all apprehended by CPS members and handcuffed. Alberton SAPS arrived on the scene and took the men in for questioning.

A resident from one of the units said one of the men rang their bell and asked to speak to Kurt. He started making obscene movements and acted very suspiciously. At that stage CPS arrived and captured the three.

The pick, bolt cutters and screwdriver that was used to force the gate open was found in the boot of the GTI.

A lady who lives in the complex next door said that she regularly saw the red golf drive up and down Albany Street.
