Ending a chapter in style

“I came, I saw, I conquered.” These words could easily have been said by B. Louw after being the Headmaster of Eden Park Secondary.

ALBERTON – Throughout his years as principal at the school, he was at times hated by some staff, parents and maybe some learners, but was equally loved and respected by many who noticed the changes he brought to the school. One thing can be said about him, and that is he always ignored negative remarks and attitudes and only concentrated on positive aspects. He only did what he does best, managing the school with dignity for the success of every learner to have a good future.

On his arrival at the school, he changed the Matric pass rate which was usually between 48% and 84%. The pass rate escalated gradually up to a point where it reached 93% in 2013 and now 91. 2% in 2014. His aim to reach a 100% pass rate unfortunately did not materialise.

Louw has been offered a position with the Gauteng Department of Education. Sadly, his departure will be a loss for the school and the community of Eden Park and surrounding areas. The regret was evident in the speeches delivered by Pastor Markus and SGB Chairman, GG Williams.

“I thank the dedicated teachers who worked so hard to make our pass rate so commendable. Our 91. 2% pass rate is higher than the national 79% and the provincial 84. 7%. My gratitude to the community, teachers, SGB and all the spiritual leaders who stood by me,” said Louw.
