EDEN PARK – Shireen Banoo alleged that she was raped on November 14 in her house in Riemvasmaak extention 5. She opened a case at the Eden Park Police and the suspect was arrested, but he was acquitted in court.
“Can somebody please help me? I am confused and don’t know who to consult or where to go to find out how the rapist, who hurt me so much, was acquitted of his evil deed. I don’t think I got a fair and just deal from the Palmridge Magistrates Court.
“The cops never came to my house. When I went to court to find out about my case, I was told that the suspect has been released on free bail on November 17. Then I saw the police asking my neighbours questions. Now suddenly, on December 3, a letter or notice is delivered to my house stating that the suspect has been acquitted. Based on what?” asked Shireen.
The RECORD tried, without success, to contact the investigating office on his cell and office number for comment.
