Serial rapist and murderer escapes police custody

Kliptown’s serial rapist and murderer Lungisane Mdlolo escaped police custody when he was being transported to the Palm Ridge Magistrate Court on Monday, December 2.

According eNCA, Mdlolo was due to be sentenced when he managed to escape around 09:00. Reports suggest that he was not wearing leg irons and slipped through a ground floor courtroom.

eNCA reported, “Mdlolo was convicted of three counts of rapes, one of murder, ten counts of house breaking, five counts of robbery and other charges relating to the illegal possession of arms and ammunition.”

According to the broadcaster, the prosecution argued that Mdlolo, nicknamed ‘Oneman’ by the Kliptown community should receive multiple life sentences for the terror he had unleashed.

Prosecutor Elaine Moonsamy has told eNCA that Mdlolo’s victims were living in terror that he would return to exact revenge on them.

Security concerns at the Palm Ridge Magistrate Court

eNCA reported that this was not the first the Palm Ridge Magistrate Court security was breached, there are other case which suggest that suspects in other case had previously tried or even escaped from the court.
