Another business robbery foiled

EMPD was able to arrest five suspects, thanks to information shared by a reliable source.

ALBERTON -A credible source shared information with the EMPD, which proved invaluable in the arrest of five suspects.

Metro Police Officers from the Community Liaison Unit (CLU), members of the Gauteng Traffic Police (GTP) and the Hawks managed to prevent a business robbery and apprehended five suspects.

Hawk-eyed officers stopped and searched a red Mazda BT 50 double cab with five male occupants, on Kumalo Road between the Auditorium and the Hostel.

Suspects between the ages of 26 and 39 were found to be in possession of a CZ 75 pistol, a 9mm parabellum with serial numbers filed off and 12 live rounds.

No shots were fired and no casualties reported during the capture of the suspects.

The lawbreakers were taken to the Tokoza police station, where they were charged with possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.

According to EMPD, detectives are busy investigating if the five were involved in previous criminal activities. Suspects will appear in the Palmridge Magistrate’s Court soon.
