EMM mayor joins the Record in our walk against crime

Take this opportunity, as part of 16 Days of Activism Against Violence and Abuse to pledge your support to break the silence.

ALBERTON – Had enough of crime? Then please join the Alberton RECORD, the Mayor of Ekurhuleni, the DA and the rest of our readers on Saturday, December 6 for a free 5km walk to unite Alberton in the fight against crime.

Take this opportunity, as part of 16 Days of Activism Against Violence and Abuse to pledge your support to break the silence.

Whether you are an individual or a company, whether you are a toddler or an adult, we call on you to take a stand and pledge your support to those fighting crime in Alberton. This call goes out to each and every resident of Alberton – whether your life has, directly or indirectly, been affected by crime – we need you to take a stand against crime with us. Bring your banners and placards and join us to form a united front against crime.

The walk will start at 09:00 from the Alberton Rugby Club all the way to the Alberton Police Station and then back to the club again. Not only is this a way of saying that Albertonians had it with crime, but also an opportunity where you as a resident will pledge your support to those fighting against crime for us – SAPS, the different Community Police Forums in our town as well as security companies.

After the walk, Albertonians may as well stay, but make sure you book tickets well in advance for Alberton Day at the Rugby Club with a brilliant line-up of artists including The Parlotones, Prime Circle, Gerhard Steyn, Karlien van Jaarsveld, Theuns Jordaan, Liani May, Die Campbells, LCNVL and Kurt Darren.

This weekend festival kicks off on Friday with a rock show running over to the line-up of Saturday and ends on Sunday with an ox braai and a laid-back afternoon. If you book your tickets through the Alberton RECORD, you will get it at a discounted rate, and a portion of the funds raised will go towards a non-profit organisation in support of their fight against crime. You can purchase these tickets at the RECORD’s offices at 1 Eaton Terrace, Terrace Building, New Redruth, Alberton (phone 011 724 7000 for more information) or online through webtickets at the following link https://www.webticket.co.za/performance.aspx?itemid=830368447
