DA unites with Alberton against crime

As residents of Alberton begin to join Alberton Day celebrations, the Democratic Alliance (DA) in Alberton will unite with the Alberton RECORD, other stakeholders and residents for a 5km walk against crime on Saturday December 6.

ALBERTON – The decision to unite came naturally for the party considering Alberton is represented by three ward councillors; Ward 37 Councillor Bruna Haipel, Ward 38 Councillor Estelle Visser and Ward 94 Councillor Michael Basch, who is also the DA’s Spokesperson for Community Safety in Ekurhuleni.

“Being part of this great initiative by the Alberton RECORD brings us great honour; we are humbled to be part of such an occasion,” Ward 37 DA Branch Chairperson Malcolm Maifala said. “Taking a lead from our national structure, where Federal Leader Helen Zille along with other leaders took a stand against crime a few weeks ago, we are here to stand together with the community and other stakeholders in a fight against crime.”

Along with ward councillors and branch chairpersons in Ward 37, 38 and 94, the DA will be joined by Member of Provincial Legislature Neil Campbell, PR Councillors Vicky Lawrence, Samantha Nair and their supporters.

The DA welcomes the attendance of other Ekurhuleni councillors such as Neil Diamond and the Mayor of Ekurhuleni, Cllr Mondli Gungubele.

Maifala emphasised: “This event is not about politics, it is about bringing the community together in a fight against crime, and we would like to thank and congratulate the RECORD for organising this event.”
