Wispeco crowned champion again

This time they faced a tough competition from second position holders, Everite

KATLEHONG – Wispeco Football Club were crowned champions of the Alrode Industrial League on Friday October 24, in a league entered by football clubs representing 18 companies.

The champions won the championship for the second time in succession, although they faced a tougher run courtesy of second position holders Everite, who only lost the title through goal difference as they were both equal on points after the final games on Friday.

Wispeco FC came to their last game against Henkel FC, while Everite FC had already recorded maximum points from the walk-over game they were meant to play against Maxidor FC, who could not honor the fixture due to recent retrenchments in their company.

That put a lot of pressure on Wispeco FC, who needed nothing less than a win to secure the number one spot and take the league title.

After a fierce encounter they faced against Henkel, they came victorious with a two to two scoreline, which helped them walk away with a floating trophy, gold medals and prize money to the value of R9 200.

Everite FC ended in second position and Rheem FC in the third position, receiving Silver and Bronze medals plus price money respectively.

Companies wishing to join the league are encouraged to contact Chairperson Mkhize on 082 909 5590 or Deputy Chairperson Mohlapamaswi on 072 329 1590 or Secretary Isaac Segotoon on 079 528 0725 or P.R.O Sakhile on 0723765827.
