Aunt Fanny’s feeding scheme blossoms

Although naughty elements do steal some of my vegetables, we always have enough for the scheme.

EDENPARK – The hardworking and industrious Fanny Wilson of 9 Terra-Plane Street started a vegetable garden on a vacant piece of land between Studebaker and Terra-Plane streets some years ago.

Soon she started to give away free vegetables to her neighbours and people of her area. In 2008 she started a feeding scheme at her house and in September 2014, she registered her scheme with the Department of Social Development under the name Lighthouse Community Centre.

She presently has eight helpers to assist with the preparation of food. “My vegetable garden is sustaining the feeding scheme. We cook fresh veggies from my garden and also give some to needy families. Although naughty elements do steal some of my vegetables, we always have enough for the scheme. I also help with drug counselling and the sponsorship welcomes donations of any kind,” she said.
