Fatal accident: Eyewitnesses tells more

An eyewitness shared his recollection of the fatal accident stating that emergency service's reports are incorrect.

ALBERTON – Reports that Mr Llewellyn Adams (74), who was killed in an accident involving two other vehicles last Sunday, was still in his car are incorrect.

An eyewitness shared his recollection of the fatal accident, telling the RECORD that Mr Adams was flung from his car and that the car rolled and landed on him.

“Former reports make it sound as if Mr Adams was involved in the racing and that is not true,” the witness said. “The one BMW was very close to the traffic light which Mr Adams was crossing and he was then hit. By the time the emergency personnel arrived, the car had already lifted from Mr Adams. He was definitely not still in his vehicle.” he concluded.

A second witness phoned to share his side: “If I reached the traffic light 30 seconds earlier it would or could have been me. Those guys must have been racing because they were flying and I am almost sure they skipped the red light.
“I was on my way from FNB and by the time I got to the traffic light it had turned red for me. The gentleman (Mr Adams) was driving slowly as he crossed the intersection and those guys came flying down. The one BMW landed nearly a block further away and that would not have been the case if they were doing 60km/h.
“I then skipped the traffic light to pull over at the church to assist the driver of the Corsa. Another gentleman living in the flats nearby helped me to lift the car from off him. Emergency services definitely did not find him still in his car,” he said
