Dispute at mechanics leaves two dead

Non-payment leads to an argument and the death of two in Alberton North

ALBERTON – An altercation at a mechanic based in Pieter Uys Avenue in Alberton North lead to the death of two on October 6.

According to a statement made by Alberton SAPS a man in his late thirties (the mechanic) and his son had an argument with a client.

The mechanic and his son ended up shooting the owner of the car and a female. The police are not sure at this stage what the relationship between the owner of the car and the woman was.

According to the statement the argument was about non-payment for fixing a motor vehicle that the mechanics were fixing.

The mechanic and his son have been arrested as it was not clear who pulled the trigger. The firearm has been recovered. The Alberton SAPS is still investigating the matter.

The two suspects will appear in the Palmridge Magistrates Court on October 8.

“The Station Commander commended the SAPS members who responded within minutes and made sure the suspects were arrested before they can ran away. She went further to thank everyone who was involved to assist at the scene and that is the community, CPF, Trauma centre, Paramedics, and Security Companies,” Sgt. Nkuna, Alberton SAPS spokesperson.
