Community projects brightens up children’s day

Tips provided for children from Brackendowns SAPS

A COMMUNITY project took place on August 21 at a crèche in Van Bergen Street with the Mrs UN 2014 finalist Desiree Oliphant and Brackendowns SAPS.

Communication Officer Lindi Moloi of the SAPS told the children about the importance of protecting themselves when at home and if someone should ring their door bell, they should consult with their parents first.

She also mentioned that when their parents were driving, they should not distract them, they should be well behaved and remain seated.

The children were also advised that if they are in any kind of trouble, or in an emergency, they should contact the emergency number 10111.

Children were policemen for the day and could experience what it’s like to drive in a police vehicle.

“We feel that all kids in Alberton are very special to us, and we also brought you some gifts,” said Desiree, who then handed out puzzles to the children with staff members from the crèche.
