Tip-off leads to arrests

An observant resident of South Crest reported suspicious behaviour to Special Operation Group security services (SOG). This information lead to the arrest of two suspects.

ALBERTON – The SOG received information on August 9 that electrical boxes where tampered with. According to SOG they switched the electricity off from the box outside and waited for the alarm systems battery to die so that the robbers can access the building.

The building they targeted was a company that deals with importing and exporting. One of the neighbours noticed that the lights went off and informed the SOG.

On Sunday evening August 10, the SOG and the police observed the company’s premises and waited for the robbers to return.

The suspects entered the business premises at about 20:30. The SOG and the police then acted at 01:15, when the robbers started loading the stolen property into a white Corolla.

They were able to arrest two suspects. According to the SOG two or three suspects were able to escape.
