Eden Park family hospitalised by hijackers

As communities around Gauteng are still nursing the shock of violence against children, a mother and her son were shot by hijackers in Eden Park.

EDEN PARK – A Family of three has been hospitalised after the mother and her two sons, believed to be in their late 20s or early 30s, were shot during a hijacking on Tuesday August 12.

What seemed like a normal winter evening turned into a horrifying ordeal for the family when they arrived at their home in Thames Street, Eden Park.

According to Captain Mhlophe, the driver (a disabled young man) pulled into the driveway and while his brother was helping him out of the car, the hijackers pounced on the family.

“The two brother were shot in the driveway and when the mother came out to see what was happening she was also shot. The hijackers took the silver BMW and sped away,” he said.

It is not certain how seriously injured the family is, but they were immediately rushed to the Natalspruit Hospital for treatment.

A case of attempted murder and hijacking has been opened and Eden Park urges any witnesses to come forward.
