New beginnings for karate in Alberton have dawned.

This new dawn is the addition of a new karate club to the karate community in the Bracken-area. The Brackenhurst SA JKA Karate Club under the auspices of Sensei Neil Bothma and Sensei Janie Coertzen officially opened its doors last Tuesday August 5 at the 1st Brackenhurst Scout Hall in 22 Poppy Street, Brackenhurst, Alberton.

Sensei Neil Bothma is one of the most experienced national karate champions and karate instructors in Alberton over many decades and his vast experience will provide local karateka with benefits such as self-defence, self-discipline, body conditioning, body strengthening, stamina, endurance and confidence by training in the art of karate.

Classes take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 19:00 to 19:45 and 19:45 to 20:30. Sensei Neil’s message to all aspiring karateka, current karateka and retired karateka, is to come and resume your karate training as a lifestyle as “you don’t have to be great to start, but you have to start to be great.” See you at the 1st Brackenhurst Scout Hall on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 19:00.
