Driver loses consciousness and crashes into a tree

A man driving a white C270 Mercedes Benz lost consciousness and his vehicle hit the pavement of the intersection of Ring Road East and Redruth Street.

ALBERTON – Mr Dawie du Plessis was on his way to an appointment in Pretoria, when he felt ill and decided to rather return home and reschedule.

On his return home, opposite the Steers on the Ringroad East, he lost consciousness. His vehicle hit the pavement, removing a lamppost and colliding with a tree.

He was admitted to the Union Hospital with head injuries, sustaining a concussion and a hairline fracture to his right ankle. He was kept overnight in the ICU for observation, but moved to a general ward on July 17 and more tests were run.

Dawie’s wife Ruth and family thank Werner from Miracle Towing Services, the paramedics and members from S.O.G. for their efficient and professional service at the accident scene.
