TWO female pedestrians, believed to be in their mid-twenties, lost their lives in two fatal car accidents on the N12 East near the Atlas Road off-ramp on Friday July 11.
Paramedics from ER24 arrived on the scene and found the two women with multiple injuries lying on the highway. Apparently a vehicle collided with them as they tried to cross the highway.
Nothing could be done for them and they were both declared dead on the scene before the incident was handed over to the Ekurhuleni Metro Police Department.
According to reports by the EMPD an incident occurred around 19:00. A culpable homicide docket was registered at the Benoni police station.
The EMPD explained that one lady was found on the painted island while the other was found in the middle of the roadway, apparently hit by a Toyota Hilux, which stopped. Seemingly, the latter was run over by more than one vehicle.
