Sewage problems on the rise in Alberton

Sewage is raising a stink in various areas of Alberton.

ALBERTON – A number of complaints and concerns have surfaced about sewage conditions in various areas. Sewage problems have been among the concerns that the Alberton community are experiencing.

From overflows, sewage spills to the community’s concern about the health implications and the problem faced when complaints are directed to both Ekurhuleni (council) and departments.

Among these are:

Villa Daniella Meyersdal sewage conditions: An overflow at that complex with people who are dissatisfied with the condition of sewage flooding their lawns. According to residents, they have sent requests to the EMM about the condition.

Alrode Ref. No. 1095586190614 and Ref. No. 20140704084033×648: A businessman said his sewage problems were dealt with: “It was cleaned out on Saturday July 5 but it is temporary, because sewage conditions re-occur in that area.”

Alrode South have raised sewage complaints (mainly the businesses in the area).

Sewage conditions at the back section of Brackendowns: Klip River Drive has had a recurring stench for some time, a male resident of Brackendowns has indicated where the problem is.

Councillor Estelle Visser has addressed the matter accordingly and escalated the situation to the necessary department and a team was dispatched to handle these situations.
