Sewage coming out of Brackenhurst Library driveway

Sewage overflows near the Brackenhurst Library from a resident's home.

BRACKENHURST – A Man reported an incident on July 8 of sewage coming out of the driveway of the Brackenhurst Library in Delphinium Street. He noticed the raw sewage flowing out into the main road.

The resident explained that the sewage was pouring out into the open road and that Ekurhuleni did not solve the problem at all. He also noted that the unhealthy situation cannot be tolerated any longer.

On July 9 it was discovered that the area was cleared by Ekurhuleni’s team, but the parking bay in which the staff park is situated, was covered with dried sewage.

An employee explained: “The sewage came from a resident’s home in the area and not from the library.” The employee indicated the open hole at the back which leads directly to the car staff park.

According to Councillor Estelle Visser it is the normal procedure for the EMM to clean up the mess after fixing the problem.
