‘Bradley was not a troublemaker’ – Mother

"Reports on Facebook and other social media that Bradley was a troubled child, is definitely untrue. He was a humble child and did not ask much." Charmaine Zukor, mother of Bradley du Preez.

ALBERTON – “My child has been murdered and everybody who knew him will confirm that Bradley was not a trouble maker.” These are the words of Bradley du Preez’s mother, Charmaine Zukor, in a telephonic interview with the RECORD.

Bradley du Preez (20) passed away after a fight between him and a group at the Little Eagle Spur on Sunday June 22.

He would have celebrated his 21st birthday on August 22. Born in Alberton, Bradley attended Kenton Primary School. In his high school years he moved to live with his father and attended a high school in Boksburg.

From there he returned to Alberton. His mother, Charmaine, told the RECORD that Bradley was also previously employed by the Dros at the Lemon Tree, and that he was well known to the people there and at the Spur.

“He recently started doing work for his father and was living in a cottage in New Market,” she said.

“Reports on Facebook and other social media that Bradley was a troubled child, is definitely untrue. He was a humble child and did not ask much. Even when I was buying them gifts, he was never an extravagant boy. Bradley had a good heart and was a soft person.

“The suspects where not known to me but Bradley’s brother, Chad, told me that their father could identify some of the suspects at the court on Tuesday.

“From what I understand, they where denied bail on Tuesday and that they will re-apply for bail when they appear in court tomorrow, Friday June 27.”

Bradley’s mother also confirmed that he was not very healthy and that he suffered from a heart condition.

“We have been waiting for a report back from Johannesburg General Hospital for an operation,” she said.

Depending the release of Bradley’s body after an autopsy, his funeral has been scheduled for Tuesday, July 1.

The RECORD can now confirm that, after viewing CCTV footage, previous reports that the complete group of six took part in the fight, are untrue. During the fight the two female suspects remained seated.
