Alberton remains in the dark

Power outage in Alberton and surrounding areas has affected certain areas from as early as 08:00 and should be resotored at 20:00 this evening.

ALBERTON – Ekurhuleni Metro Municipality confirmed that a cable was terminated at a sub station.

Engineers are working to fix the problem. The cable that has been terminated will be replaced.

Among areas affected, Verwoedpark in Alberton has been without power since 08:00 on Friday morning June 13.

Earlier today, Eskom announced it started restoring power in areas which were affected by load shedding on Thurday evening, June 12.

UPDATE – 17:25 – The City of Ekurhuleni responded to a Tweet from @ALBRecord saying, “Information from the City of Ekurhuleni – Alberton blown transmitter cable successfully restored.

“Full power supply in all affected areas expected at 20:00”
