CPS security and EMPD crime task team work together

Three suspects were arrested on June 12.

ALBERTON – A CPS Security tactical unit was present in Verwoerd Park, after an increase in housebreaking and house robberies have been noted in the area.

The CPS Security has also received information from the public on suspicious vehicles in the area, a white Fiat Punto and a white BMW x1.

The tactical unite noticed two suspicious vehicles scouting the area. They proceeded to follow the vehicles. The vehicles split, taking different routes. CPS Security followed the Punto. CPS security chased the Punto in the Florentia and Alberton North area when the Punto went onto the N12 heading towards Germiston.

The Punto’s motor blew on the N12. The suspects got out of the vehicle and ran towards the PPC cement factory. Three of the four suspects were apprehended. The fourth suspect jumped over the concrete road divisions.

The Ekurhuleni Metro Police Department crime task team were able to make arrests on the scene.

The EMPD crime task team assisted in searching the car and found housebreaking implements as well as a large knife. Further investigation of the vehicle showed that false number plates were used on the Punto. The car was a vehicle hired from a rental company based in Boksburg.

CPS Security would like to thank the EMPD crime task team for their assistance. They would also like to remind the community to be vigilant and if they do see something, to say something.
