Re/max All Stars SA boosted Broken Wings

Keeping the organisation alive is a struggle and committee members endure every month.

ALBERTON – Broken Wings is a daycare organisation founded in 1989 by Lettie Bardane and Maureen Ansett for adults with disabilities.

Keeping the organisation alive is a struggle and committee members endure every month as they raise funds to keep the doors open. This month Broken Wings had some relief after receiving a generous donation from Re/max All Stars SA on Thursday June 5.

Centre Manager Marietjie Stols and committee member Sheryl Swanepoel were very pleased to get the support of Re/max All Stars SA.

“We are really happy to receive this enormous donation and we really appreciate it. It means a lot to us as a whole,” said Marietjie Stols.

“It is not right for a disabled person to spend the whole day at home doing nothing. That is why this organisation is important and should continue.

“Broken Wings puts them around other people so that they can have friends. Imagine how horrible it is for a disabled child who stays at home while his or her parents are at work.

“They are people, they need to be around other people and keep busy,” said Heather Wood, who has been volunteering for 15 years.

The organisation, located at 15 Glen Albyn Street, Raceview, Alberton, has a vision to become an organisation which serves all disabled adults and their families within their walls with dignity and humility.
