A extra bag of groceries can go a long way

AMCARE's food bank has been running low on stock recently, which makes donations at this time just so much more welcome.

NEWMARKET – AMCARE, a multi-purpose health and social development organisation servicing poor and vulnerable persons in the greater Alberton area, distributes on average of 1 000 food parcels per month and 350 loaves of bread per week.

“There are at least 350 OVC’S (orphans and vulnerable children) who depend on us and over 500 adults relying on us. Those who just arrive on our doorstep for help, advice and a once-off food parcel are not even included in these figures,” Percy Howroyd, general manager at AMCARE explains

“Our food bank has been running low on stock recently, which makes donations at this time just so much more welcome,” says Percy.

How can you help:

* Financial contributions to AMCARE help foot the monthly fuel bill. AMCARE vehicles are used to deliver the food parcels and bread.

* Items still desperately needed for the food bank include oil, Marmite, corned beef, peanut butter and toiletries.

How companies and businesspeople can benefit by contributing:

AMCARE is registered as a Public Benefit Organization with SARS and can issue section 18A certificates, which qualify you for tax relief.

The Socio-economic Development element of the BBBEE scorecard gives acknowledgment to companies for supporting initiatives that help 75 per cent or more black beneficiaries gain sustainable access to the economy. These contributions can be monetary or non- monetary in nature. The profile of AMCARE’S beneficiary community can benefit your company’s BBBEE scorecard by 25 weighting points. AMCARE will provide you with an affidavit certifying the beneficiary community.
