Notice of Public Consultation for the EIA phase for the proposed Stone River’s Arch Mixed-Use Development on the remaining extent of Portion 112 of the Farm Rietvlei 101-IR, City of Johannesburg Metropolitan Municipality, Gauteng Province, South Africa.
KLIPRIVIER DRIVE, MULBARTON – GladAfrica Environmental Management [GEM] (Pty) Ltd as lead Environmental Assessment Practitioners (EAPS) for the proposed mixed-use development to be known as Stone River’s Arch on the Remaining Extent of Portion 112 and the Remaining Extent of Portion 2 of the farm Rietvlei 101 IR in Johannesburg, Gauteng Province was appointed by Thaba Ya Batswana Eco-Tourism (Pty) Ltd to undertake the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) process.
The tasks that were outlined in the Plan of Study for the EIA in the Final Scoping Report accepted by GDARD as stated in the EIA Regulations 31(1) of 2010 of NEMA, with the aim of ensuring that the requirements of GDARD have been adhered and undertaken. The following were the listed activities applied for in terms of the National Environmental Management Act, 1998 (Act No. 107 of 1998) Listing Notice 1, 2 & 3:
Listing Notice 1: GNR 544: 9(i), 10(i), 12, 22, 24, 26, 47 & 56;
Listing Notice 2: GNR 545: 15; and
Listing Notice 3: GNR 546: 2(b)(v), 4(ii)(iii)(v)(viii), 6(ii)(iii) & (iv).
The draft Environmental Impact Report (EIR) and comment sheets have been made available to all interested and affected (I&APs) at the public viewing places mentioned below. All comments on the draft EIR should be faxed and / or emailed. The review period will run for 30 days as mentioned is the EIA Regulations, 2010 of NEMA. All comments on the draft EIR must be sent before June 25 2014. The draft EIR was lodged at the following public viewing places:
Thaba Ya Batswana Eco-hotel (Pty) Ltd, 46 Impala Road, Klipriviersberg Nature Reserve, Johannesburg; and Glenanda Library, Corner Vorster and Surmon Avenue, Glenanda.
