Wax painter found her medium

Marcelle Schwarze has a wide collection of various wax paintings.

MARCELLE Schwarze, a Mayberry Park resident, is a wax artist who has many ideas in creating her own kind of art.

She began with an initial idea for three years before attempting anything. When the idea came to mind in 2009, she thought of a theme about the ocean. She discovered that she could carve and form a shape in wax. For example, she carved a tree using certain utensils.

Her passion then began to grow but had no training for the type of art she does, describing her talent and skill as a gift from God.

Marcelle specialises in nature paintings wants to expand to portrait paintings as part of her collection.

The concept with her art in 2009 was using a melamine tray as a medium, as it always seemed to work. She then tried a frame and a mirror. Since discovering these as an artistic medium, she thought that glass could also work, and this brought her to 2014; she now uses glass and mirrors as her main medium.

“The nice thing about this is that I am not restricted to size. I can create a wide variety of different art pieces,” said Marcelle.

She will be at the upcoming Craft Market at the NG Kerk in Brackendowns from 09:00 until 12:00 where her work will be displayed.

Her goal this year is to host her very own exhibition later this year.
