Puppies left in a toolbox

Puppies were left in a toolbox and a wanted criminal arrested.

BOERBOEL cross-bred puppies were kept in a toolbox to be sold on Saturday May 3 along Hennie Alberts Street in Brackenhurst.

According to NSPCA representative Jaco Poeterse the suspect was selling the puppies. Brackendowns police confronted the suspect and he was taken in for finger prints and arrested. It was also found that he was a wanted criminal.

The NSPCA will lay a charge against him for animal cruelty. “Thanks to Brackendowns SAPS for being prompt and thorough,” said Jaco.

Brackendowns SAPS confirmed that they stopped and searched the suspicious looking man who was carrying puppies. He was tested on MCD (Morpho Touch Machine) and it was found that he was wanted for armed robbery in the Hammanskraal area since 2002.

The SAPS members confiscated the puppies and took them to the SPCA.

According to the SPCA representative, the man selling puppies at Hennie Alberts Street was spotted by someone from the community who called the afterhours SAPS emergency number and NSPCA, informing each other what to do. The member of the SAPS took the puppies to the SPCA on Sunday afternoon.

“The SPCA has to wait for a pound period of seven days before the puppies can be put up for adoption,” said Kingstone Siziba. On Monday May 12 they should be up for adoption.

The suspect was arrested at the Alberton SPCA.
