Young rugby star set for international stardom

Cyle Brink was selected for the Baby Boks.

ALBERTON – Cyle Brink is a 20-year-old rugby player and resides in Brackenhurst.

He has always played sport and started playing rugby in high school. He has always wanted to do it and only in grade 8 did his passion for the sport grow. He also played water polo and athletics during his high school years.

“My parents are very supportive. They would have supported me no matter what I did,” says Cyle.

Two sport icons Cyle looks up to is Jean Deysel and Jaun Smith.

“Talent only gets you so far, but hard work will get you to where you want to be. Once you reach a certain goal, one would maintain a humble approach,” he says.

He also enjoys being around friends and family and is currently single. He attended Kenton Primary in Brackenhurst and KES (King Edward VII school).

Recently he was selected for the Baby Boks squad and he will be going to New Zealand in June.

He is also currently involved in the Vodacom Cup which will be go on for about another month.

Some of his other achievements include playing for the first team for two years, 2011 and 2012, taking part in the Academy week in 2011 and Craven week in 2012, both for the Lions. He played for the Lions in the Curry Cup in 2013, Half season u.19 and half season u.21, and was chosen as Player of the Year u.19.
