Woman dies in a taxi between Alberton and Thokoza

ALBERTON – On April 23 at around 12: 00 a taxi driver drove in at the police station with a dead body.

He came in and informed the police at the CSC that while passing the taxi rank, a marshal stopped him and gave him an elderly female lady as a passenger from Alberton to Thokoza.

While driving, he decided to look back and ask for money, only to find the old lady gasping for air. She passed away in the back seat.

Paramedics were called at the police station and she was certified dead. An inquest was opened and the body taken to government mortuary for further investigation.

The lady is known through records found on her, but the next of kin were not notified and the name cannot be disclosed until the SAPS gets hold of them.
