Joint donation of four hundred and fifty four units of blood

For husband and wife, Edward and Patricia Dyer, there’s never been any doubt in their minds that they wanted to be blood donors and they believe through their donations they will have saved many lives.

ALBERTON – Edward (67) has been donating blood since 1964. “I was working for SA Breweries then and the Blood Bank used to come to my place of work. It made it easier to donate and when I left I just carried on donating,” he said.

His wife, Patricia (65) has also donated for many years. “It’s a great feeling to know through our donations we’ve saved lives,” she told RECORD.

Kamantha Pillay, Public Relations Practitioner for South African National Blood Service, was at Edwards 250th donation. “This is absolutely wonderful and what a great team they make. From one household it’s marvellous that we have received so many units and we thank them both for their dedication and achievement,” said Kamantha.

“We are proud to be blood donors and we’ll be carrying on for as long as we can,” Edward and Patricia said.
