Donation to home for the aged

This is the second year in a row that the ladies golf section at Reading Country Club donated money raised at their annual Charity Golf Day.

ALBERTON – A fifteen thousand rand donation from Alberton lady golfers to the Alberton Home for the Aged in Raceview led to three new bathroom facilities being upgraded in the home.

“We are delighted with the renovations and we can’t thank the Reading ladies enough,” says Matron Salomi Niemann, manager at the home.

This is the second year in a row that the ladies golf section at Reading Country Club donated money raised at their annual Charity Golf Day to the Home for the Aged. Shelley Daymond, lady captain, said, “It warms our hearts to know that we could make a difference, and we just wish we could do so much more.”

In 2013, the home re-tiled one of the wards and installed several security cameras with the funds donated by the lady golfers.

Matron Niemann also wishes to thank Andre van Wyk from Bargain Plumbing and the tiler, Orbit, who reduced their fees considerably to come within budget.
