Local hero stands up to make a difference

Moped Street had become One-Lane Street due to the grass and weeds growing from the side of the street.

EDEN PARK – The street was so narrow that cars traveling in the opposite direction had to wait for each other in order to drive on the available space.

Desmond Jarvis, a resident in the street, came up with a bright idea which was not only industrious but also a pleasure for the children of Moped Street, who were joined by some adults.

“I called a meeting with all the children to discuss the condition of our street and they all agreed to help.

“We cleaned up all the grass and weeds and even opened the storm water drain that had been blocked for ages. For a reward, we had a braai and everyone was happy about having a clean street for the festive season, said Jarvis.
