Man, that hole is an accident waiting to happen

Residents are pleading with council to fix an open manhole cover in General Alberts Park.

GENERAL ALBERTS PARK – An open manhole in Denne Road, General Alberts Park, of which the cover was stolen, has been open for many months as nobody has attended to the matter.

Residents fear that children might fall into the hole while playing on the pavement. This might cause a serious injury.

One resident suggested that the cover be replaced by a cement enforced cover to prevent possible future incidents.

The resident has also written to the Alberton municipality, but has not had any response to date.

Councillor Michael Basch responded, “I was not aware of this manhole cover. I will however report it to the metro and I am sure it will be resolved.”
