Alberton SPCA activities of 2013 and events for coming year

During December 2013 the SPCA took in more than 400 animals. Some have been reunited with their owners but there are many more looking for homes

ALBERTON – If you are thinking of getting a pet, go to your nearest SPCA and see what they have available. The motto is “Adopt, don’t shop.”

If you find a dog, report it to the SPCA. Many people are searching for their beloved pets.

The Christmas stand at Bracken City raised over R30 000 and the SPCA thanks Mr Andreas of Pick n Pay Brackenhurst for allowing them to have their stand once again. The Tree of Light had over 1 000 discs on it.

SPCA thanks Krystle Geach of Mustard Seed Marketing for organising it and to those who took the time to participate. To those who still wish to purchase CD calenders, one can buy them for R25 from the SPCA.

The 5 cent campaign raised over R18 000. If you have any spare 5 cent coins lying around – or other change – please bring it to the SPCA in Lincoln Road.

On Christmas Day the SPCA treated the animals to a meal and this year fed more than 40 cats and more than 65 dogs. A big thank you from the SPCA to all who attended the day. Photos can be seen on the Facebook page of the SPCA Alberton, Gauteng.

Several events are planned for this year and the SPCA is in the process of finalising an event and fundraising calendar. Follow the SPCA on Facebook for regular updates.

Some changes at the SPCA: Rob Delport, Manager and Senior Inspector, left the SPCA and Senior Inspector Kingstone Sibizi is now Acting Manager. Inspector Henry Agebite joined the SPCA at the beginning of January. Stef Henning has been promoted to Admin Manager and Daline Deeny to Kennel Manager.

The Committee and Staff of Alberton SPCA join in wishing everyone a healthy, happy, prosperous and cruelty-free 2014.
