Suspect caught in the act

Thief caught with syringes usually used for drugs

ON January 8 a CPF member noticed a suspicious man sitting next to the palisade fence at the corner of Van Riebeeck Avenue and Van Rensburg Road in Alberton North.

The CPF member also noticed that the man was busy loosening the palisade fence and hitting it with a rock. The CPF member requested assistance on the CPF radio.

CPF members and FOX Security Reaction officers responded to the call.

Once the suspect was approached by the CPF members and FOX Security Reaction officers, he started running in the direction of the 2nd Avenue taxi rank. Both CPF members and FOX Security Reaction officers chased the suspect.

The suspect was apprehended and arrested by CPF members and FOX Security Reaction officers in the Alberton City parking area.

After the arrest, the suspect was identified as one of the beggars who usually sit on their knees in Ring Road. The suspect was searched and two used medical syringes (normally used for illegal drugs) was found in his possession.

The suspect was detained at Alberton SAPS.
