Fifth Avenue left in the dark since November

Street lights have been off since mid-November 2013 in 5th Avenue, Alberton North.

ALBERTON – The residents of 5th Avenue reported the incident on December 6 last year with reference number 947729 (issued by the resident). On December 9, a SMS to Councillor Haipel was sent explaining that the electricity/street lights were still off. The councillor said she would follow up on the matter.

On December 21, the resident once again send a SMS to Councillor Haipel informing her that the lights were still not working and the council was closing for Christmas on December 24.

According to the residents, Councillor Haipel contacted Johan Dreyer and Dalen Schroeder and asked them to attend to the problem, but nothing was done.

On December 28 another SMS was sent to the Councillor informing her that there were still no lights working. The Councillor responded and explained that she would report it to the CCA manager.

Residents contacted Councillor Haipel on January 7 and she responded that the incident was reported to the CCA manager and the mayor, and that she had asked for written questions from the council and that she would be inviting Dalen Schroeder to the next ward meeting for an explanation. The Councillor is keeping an eye on the situation.
