Festive season 2013 successes for Brackendowns SAPS

A look back at what happened last year in the Brackendowns area

House robbery and murder:

ON December 15, 2013 at 22:00 a house robbery took place at Phala Street, Brackendowns.

During the incident, the house owner was shot. A quick response by the Brackendowns CPF and police led to the arrest of one suspect on the scene.

The detectives continued with a follow-up investigation and three more suspects were arrested in Orange Farm in connection with the incident. Unfortunately the complainant died on December 16 due to injuries.

All the suspects have been charged with murder and house robbery and appeared in court on December 19.

Business breaking in Alrode:

One suspect was arrested in Alrode for a business breaking on December 17.

Possession of unlicensed firearm:

One suspect was arrested for possession of an unlicensed firearm. A lady phoned the police and informed the police that her boyfriend had brought the firearm to her employer’s place at Applegran Street.

The police did a follow-up and traced the suspect to Spruitview. However, the friend of the suspect informed him that he was wanted and hid the suspect. The friend was then arrested for defeating justice and appeared in court on December 19.

House breaking:

11 people were arrested for house breaking incidents during the December period.

General:

No fireworks related incidents were reported during New Year’s celebrations.

Four people were arrested for drunk driving where accidents occurred.

Accused in court:

Mr Dave Ridgway, accused for the murder of Peter Robinson, will appear in court again on January 13.
