Simba and fiancee assaulted by police

Flo Simba and fiancée spend hours in police sells.

“All I want is justice,” said well known boxer from the South, Flo Simba.

Simba and his fiancée, Leandera Beyers, were arrested on Sunday January 5 at 11:45 in front of the shopping centre in Tulisa Park. Apparently the police wanted to search Simba’s vehicle for drugs when the argument started.

“The police said they wanted to search my vehicle for drugs and started to push me around and smacking me. The police did the same to my fiancée. I told them there was no reason to push us around; I did not have a problem if they wanted to search me. They hit both of us severely. I tried to protect her from being hit and pushed around. They handcuffed me to the rails at the shop.

“The police put us in the police van and drove us to the station where they detained us for almost three hours. We were transferred to the holding cells at John Vorster. Only when we had to hand in our belongings, I had the chance to phone for help or bail while they opened a docket.

“We will be taking legal action against the police,” said Simba today at 14:30 when they were released. He said that all he wanted now was justice, because there was no reason to use violence to search their vehicle.

Both of them went to the South Rand hospital to be treated for their injuries and they have the reports on the injuries. “My fiancée’s face is badly swollen and we both need treatment.”

The Southern Courier contacted the spokesperson for Moffatview Police for a comment on the case. The spokesperson said they will be in contact to verify the facts.

Both Simba and Beyers will appear in the Johannesburg Magistrate court on Tuesday January 7.
