No time for crime

SAPS protect the Alberton area

ON the night of December 29 2013 a truck was hijacked on its way to a truck stop at Roodekop Engen Garage and a case was opened at Alberton SAPS.

The next morning on the Station Crime Combating Forum, the Station Commander tasked Captain de Fillete and Constable Sefojane to follow up on the case and before the meeting – usually lasting two hours- was finished, the two members were back with the results.

The truck was recovered the same night at Alrode with the help of a tracker. The same tracker also helped the two officers to recover the load that was off-loaded at number 247 Main Reef Road, Denver inside unit R3, owned by an Ethopian named Nuru.

They then requested a backup from the Acting Station Commander Lt Col Shiburi, Sgt Nkuna, Sgt Nkosi and Const Moloi. The six of them left to Denver with the driver of the truck and on arrival, the driver noticed his sandal and hat on the floor next to the locked unit.

A trap was set for the owner to come and open up but he was suspicious and he dropped the two men on the next street and fled. The two men admitted that they off-loaded the oil from the same truck during the night.

The two men were arrested and investigation continues; it is believed to be a syndicate that hijacks trucks using blue lights. “Our members, Captain de Fillete and Const Sefojane, did a great job in such a small period of time,” said Sgt Nkuna.

“That is what committed officers must do and that will show criminals that in the Alberton area there is no room to commit crime, for you will be arrested. Our dedicated officers are there 24 hours to hunt you down,” said Sgt Nkuna. The Station Commander thanks them for their good work.
