Seven places to meet a man this Christmas

A lot of single women are excited for the holiday season but this excitement is dampened by a lack of a man in their lives.

JOHANNESBURG – Women are wondering “Where can I find a man this holiday? Where are all the good men? Taken?” Well, not all of them. During every holiday season I have seen and heard of women meeting great men at different places, so there’s not one place to meet men, ladies.

Here are top seven places you are likely to meet decent single men.

Selected Shopping Malls

Though it might seem like a busy place during the festive season, a lot of single men do visit shopping malls. Maybe to cut their hair, get their phone fixed or watch a movie. There has been many success stories from this rather unsuspecting place. It is not just a place of shopping but a place of love too. So try it!

The Beach

For all you lovers of outdoor and seaside fun, this is your perfect opportunity. A lot of single men migrate to the coast during Christmas just to catch some fun; this means they have their eyes on the ladies also!

You might not know how to swim but that is not enough reason not to enjoy a cooler or sundowners by the beach, walking barefooted on the water soaked soil. You might just run into a potential Mr Right.

Church

Yes ladies. Church! It is not a sin to cast your net here. This is a good reason to increase your church attendance, but not the ultimate reason. Church is a spiritual yet social environment, so stop going home immediately after the service.

Walk around the resource centre or bookshop. Buy something from the cafe and sit down. Anyone at church during the holidays shows how devoted they are to God and God may just surprise you with a devoted man! Say amen somebody!

A Braai a.k.a Cookout a.k.a Barbeque

Fun-filled braais are regular fixtures of many holiday seasons, so don’t turn down such invitations. Out at a park, at home, by the lake with food, music and drinks flowing, you never know who’ll be there. Your friend’s cousin, a stranger, a long lost childhood friend or that ‘man’ might just be there.

Your Village

Yes sisters, down in the rural area where your great, great grandparents are from, and yes – even though you’d rather not admit it – where you are also from, except that you have been urbanised.

A lot of single men who dwell in the city find their way to their rural home during the holiday season. They tend to be well mannered because of the values they learned. Bear in mind that, like you, pressure is also on them from mothers and gogos (grannies) to get married. Sometimes you might just be spoiled for choice, ladies! But don’t be a “village girl” – as they say in Nigeria. Seize the moment!

The Gym

Lately, there has been an influx of more women at the gym than men, and this Christmas won’t be any different.

It doesn’t matter whether you have gained a few kilos or not, just hit the gym to stay in shape and you might find that you’ll catch someone’s eye. Who knows, after a few days, he might ask you out on a date. One bit of advice though – work out where most of them work out.

Don’t be shy or feel embarrassed. A little bit of confidence goes a long way. So keep working it out girl!

Facebook, Social Networks and Online Dating

Now that for the next two weeks, you’ll have plenty of time on your hands, what are you going to do with it?

A great friend of mine met his wife on social media and today they are happily married with two beautiful kids and reside in Sydney, Australia.

Another friend just got married a few weeks ago. Facebook and other social networks expand your social circle thus increase your chances of meeting your significant other.

One out of five committed relationships is a result of an online dating site. So spend some of your holiday time connecting with other like-minded men. Remember though to stay safe!

Merry Christmas!
