EKURHULENI – Environmental education awareness community project has kicked off. The project by Ekurhuleni Metropolitan municipality has selected 110 candidates from the surrounding areas. The group was fully trained on environmental issues and how to go about addressing such issues.
Objectives of the project is to encourage community participation, create a sustainable and healthy environment, make the community aware of environmental issues and to empower the community by offering skills and creating job opportunities.
“Our goal is to encourage the community to participate in creating a sustainable and healthy environment by eradicating illegal dumping sites and utilizing our natural resources in a sustainable way,” said the group leader.
