Robbery case of Crime Line Head postponed

The men arrested in connection with the house robbery of Head of Crime Line, Yusuf Abramjee’s home, appeared in court on November 27 only to have their case postponed to December 4.

JOHANNESBURG – Further investigations were sighted as the reason for the postponement of the case.

According to reports, the two men who are also suspected of being behind a series of robberies and burglaries in Johannesburg have also been accused of trying to buy a case docket from police.

Police reportedly seized three stolen cars, two unlicensed firearms, ammunition and money at the men’s home.

“According to Erasmia police, two armed suspects entered Abramjee’s premises at around 09:30 this morning after they cut the electric fence surrounding the property.

“Abramjee, his wife and youngest son were home at the time of the robbery. The suspects demanded the keys of Abramjee’s BMW and while they were reversing the car out of the garage, opened fire on the house,” said a statement by Crime Line.

“A shootout ensued. Police confronted the armed robbers during an attempted break-in at a nearby property. It is suspected that they entered the Abramjee property with the intention of stealing a getaway vehicle. A stolen blue Mercedes Benz was found at the first scene with equipment used for house break-ins.”

“The armed robbers have been positively linked to the first attempted robbery. At this stage Abramjee’s car has not been recovered. Police have also confirmed that nobody was injured during the attack.”
